Family Finds Bible Unscathed After House Fire in Ilocos Sur

A family in Ilocos Sur, Philippines, who recently suffered a devastating house fire, made a surprising discovery while sifting through the ruins of their home. Ruth Mary Lepuyan and her family returned to what was left of their house on November 27, expecting to find mostly ash and rubble after a fire consumed their belongings.

With nearly everything destroyed, they began their careful search, hoping to salvage anything possible. During this process, Lepuyan unearthed a thick object partly hidden beneath the charred debris. Initially, she anticipated it would be charred beyond recognition, similar to the rest of their possessions.

To her astonishment, it turned out to be the family Bible, remarkably intact. In a recorded moment, she is seen lifting the Bible from the ashes, flipping through the pages, which appear miraculously unaffected by the fire. Surrounding items were severely damaged, but the Bible showed no visible signs of burning or melting.

Nearby, she located another book, though it was in a sorry state, heavily damaged due to the flames. Reflecting on their dire situation, Lepuyan said, “We will be celebrating Christmas with nothing left. Everything has been burnt down and all we have is the Bible. This is a miracle.”

The incident highlights a broader trend, as there have been multiple reports over the years of Bibles surviving severe fires. For instance, a similar situation occurred in 2024 when a woman in Georgia, facing a hurricane, was urged by what she felt was a divine voice to move from her bedroom moments before a tree crashed onto her bed. Surprisingly, her Bible endured while the rest of her room was destroyed.

In yet another example from 2019, an Alabama man shared that his grandfather’s Bible emerged unscathed from a fire that devastated his home. His sister mentioned how pristine the Bible remained, fit for church service, despite the surrounding chaos from the flames.
