Patrick Mahomes Out for the Season Due to Torn ACL
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes will be sidelined for the remainder of the season after sustaining a torn ACL during a game against the Los Angeles Chargers, as reported by various sources.
The injury occurred when Mahomes’ knee was struck by Chargers defensive end Dashawn Hand while he was scrambling. He was assisted off the field and eventually made his way to the locker room. An MRI later confirmed the severity of the injury.
In light of the injury news, Mahomes expressed his thoughts in a message to fans, saying, “I don’t know why this had to happen. It hurts to say this, but all we can do is trust God and keep pushing forward every day. I’m grateful for the Chiefs Kingdom for their support and prayers. I will return stronger than before.”
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid shared his thoughts after the game about Mahomes’ situation. When asked about the seriousness of the injury, he replied, “…it wasn’t good. You all saw it. We’ll see how it goes.”
This defeat against the Chargers not only impacts Mahomes but also means the Chiefs are out of the playoff picture. Kansas City had a strong run, making it to the AFC Championship every year since 2018 and winning two Super Bowls in the process.
Mahomes concluded the season with impressive stats, totaling 3,398 passing yards and 22 touchdowns.
The Chiefs are currently 6-8 this season, marking a significant shift from their previous performances.
