Federal Agents Disrupt Reported New Year’s Eve Terror Plot
Federal authorities have arrested several alleged members linked to a pro-Palestinian extremist group, effectively preventing a potential terrorist plot designed for New Year’s Eve.
The FBI has confirmed the apprehension of four individuals believed to belong to an extremist faction associated with the Turtle Island Liberation Front.
According to FBI Director Kash Patel, those arrested are perceived as part of “extremist groups” driven by pro-Palestinian, anti-law enforcement, and anti-government sentiments.
Patel shared that the suspects had intentions to launch coordinated attacks utilizing improvised explosive devices at five sites in Los Angeles on New Year’s Eve.
These individuals were detained in Lucerne Valley, where they appeared to be preparing explosives ahead of the planned attacks.
They face charges including conspiracy and possession of a destructive device.
Additionally, the FBI reported a fifth person linked to this subgroup was arrested in New Orleans, with suspicions of involvement in another attack.
Patel commended his agents and law enforcement collaborators for their role in potentially saving “countless lives.”
A press conference is scheduled by the Los Angeles FBI for Monday, during which further details will be shared with the public.
Attorney General Pam Bondi commented on the situation, stating that, after an extensive investigation, the Department of Justice and the FBI successfully thwarted a large and potentially devastating terrorist plot in Central California. She noted that the Turtle Island Liberation Front had been prepping a series of bombings targeting various locations in California, specifically focusing on ICE officers and their vehicles.
FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino emphasized the importance of their mission, declaring, “Defend our homeland and suppress violent crime” as fundamental to this investigation. He expressed gratitude for the cooperation from law enforcement and DOJ partners.
