Howard Stern reveals three-year extension of his SiriusXM contract

Howard Stern Extends SiriusXM Contract for Three More Years

On Tuesday, Howard Stern, the well-known talk radio personality, declared he would continue his journey with SiriusXM for another three years. This announcement comes amidst much speculation regarding his future as his current contract was set to expire later this year.

Stern, known for his candid “woke” views and perhaps a fading influence in recent times, had been contemplating his next steps with the satellite radio network. However, he squashed any rumors about leaving by confirming his decision to stay.

“I’m pleased to share that we’ve figured out a way to have it all,” Stern mentioned during his final show in 2025. “We’ve gained more free time while still being able to stay on the air. So, yes, we’re coming back for the first time in three years.”

Expressing gratitude, he said, “Thank you to the great folks at SiriusXM. Honestly, I have a lot of respect for them. It truly broke my heart… I still enjoy being on the radio. I genuinely believe our show is better than ever.”

Although tabloids previously speculated that he would part ways, often citing financial reasons, Stern reassured fans. Earlier this year, he surprised listeners upon his return from summer break by bringing on radio host Andy Cohen, jokingly pretending they were taking over his show.

“Everything you read in the papers about me and Robin is totally untrue,” Stern stated at that time. “SiriusXM and my team have been having ongoing discussions about our future. They’ve always been great to me and have continued that conversation.”

Stern, referred to as the “King of All Media,” rose to prominence in 1985, attracting millions of listeners before moving to Sirius in 2006. It’s noted that his current audience has dwindled to approximately 125,000 daily listeners.

Recently, his show has shifted from its original “shock jock” format to a more liberal stance. In a notable 2023 instance, Stern remarked that he took being labeled “woke” as a “compliment,” voicing his disdain for those who supported President Trump.

Throughout Trump’s presidency, Stern evolved from a supporter to a critic, stating, “I don’t align with Trump politically. I don’t think he belongs in the White House. I don’t harbor hate for him—it’s the people who vote for him that I find bewildering. Honestly, I struggle to respect them.”

Responding to speculation surrounding his show’s future, Trump remarked during an event at the Oval Office, “Howard Stern, that’s a name I haven’t heard in ages. I was on his show once, and it was enjoyable, but I haven’t come across that name lately.” He also commented on Stern’s change in audience after endorsing Hillary Clinton.

Stern has been outspoken about mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations and often criticized celebrities for acting as if life were back to normal during the pandemic. He plans to return to live broadcasting on January 5th.
