Elon Musk Is Supporting Republican Campaigns for the 2026 Midterm Elections

Elon Musk has reportedly begun funding Republican campaigns as the 2026 midterm elections approach, hinting at a thaw in his relationship with former President Donald Trump following a rocky period.

Earlier this year, Musk had entertained the idea of starting a third party, but it seems he’s changed his mind. According to sources, he’s now made substantial contributions to help Republicans retain congressional seats in the upcoming elections. The specifics of Musk’s donations will be disclosed next month when his campaign finance report is released.

Furthermore, Tesla’s CEO has indicated plans to continue making contributions throughout the 2026 election cycle. This shift comes after a dinner he had with Vice President J.D. Vance.

After resigning from the Department of Government Efficiency in May and experiencing a public fallout with Trump in June, Musk’s return to supporting the Republican party marks a notable change. While he and Trump might not be as close as they used to be, sources suggest they do communicate occasionally.

Musk is reportedly looking to adopt the role of a conventional Republican donor, providing financial backing to various candidates and super PACs.

In late September, Trump and Musk were seen together for the first time since their estrangement at an event honoring the late Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.

Before Kirk’s tragic assassination on September 10, he had voiced hopes for a reconciliation between Trump and Musk, noting that such reunions often happen in politics. “This may seem irreconcilable,” he had remarked, but highlighted Trump’s track record of mending relationships even with those once viewed as adversaries.

Adding to this narrative, Kirt mentioned, “I think Elon and Trump will reconcile.”

In what appears to align with Kirk’s aspirations, both the White House and Musk posted a photo of them together at Kirk’s memorial, captioned “For Charlie.”
