From One Newlywed to Another
Right after Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers triumphed over Zach Wilson and the Dolphins with a score of 28-15 on “Monday Night Football,” there was a heartwarming exchange on the field. Wilson, who is just six months into his own marriage to Nicolette, took a moment to congratulate Rodgers on tying the knot with a mystery partner.
“Congrats on your wedding!” Wilson told Rodgers at Acresure Stadium, where the game took place. I mean, it’s not every day you see a moment like that, right?
In response, the four-time MVP gave Wilson a friendly pat on the shoulder to show his appreciation.
Rodgers, who is now 42, surprised everyone back in June when he revealed that he had been married for several months. The details about his wife remain a bit of a mystery, which adds some intrigue.
Before this, Rodgers was engaged to actress Shailene Woodley. It’s a bit of a whirlwind, really.
This season marks Rodgers’ first with the Steelers after spending two previous seasons with the Jets, where he initially met Wilson. He came to New York amid much excitement following a major trade from the Packers, a team he had been with for 18 seasons and helped win a championship.
As for Wilson, the 2021 No. 2 overall pick had a challenging couple of years and was set to be the starter this season. However, things changed drastically when Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles just a few plays into the season.
Wilson took the reins, and despite the challenges, the Jets ended the year with a record of 7 wins and 10 losses. After the season, he was traded to the Broncos and later signed with the Dolphins as a free agent in March.
Recently, the Dolphins made a significant decision regarding their starting QB, pulling Tua Tagovailoa from playoff contention, which meant Wilson was benched for the game against Quinn Ewers.
Looking ahead, the Steelers are leading the AFC North with an 8-6 record and have their final three matchups against the Lions, Browns, and Ravens this season.
Meanwhile, Rodgers last made it to the playoffs with the Packers in the 2021 season, so there’s a lot at stake for everyone involved.
