Tyler Megill may not have a championship ring with the Mets yet, but he recently popped the question to his girlfriend, Peyton. The moment was filled with emotion, as the pitcher went down on one knee, and his fiancée looked overjoyed.
News of the engagement surfaced on the Mets’ official Instagram account, though Peyton shared the exciting news a week earlier on her own social media, captioning it “Future Mrs. Big Drip.”
A series of photos captured the proposal, including one of Megill kneeling and another showcasing their joyful embrace after she said yes. In one picture, Peyton proudly displayed her ring against a stunning mountain backdrop.
Megill, who managed to get a hit during his fifth season with the Mets, orchestrated the proposal in a lovely setting, complete with flower petals and candles positioned in an arch.
This joyful event arrives while Megill is on the mend from Tommy John surgery he had in September, which is expected to sideline him for the entire 2026 season.
In 2025, he started 14 games with a 3.95 ERA but encountered elbow issues that led to a disabled list stint in June, finishing the year with 89 strikeouts over 68 1/3 innings.
Though sidelined, he experienced disappointment as the Mets fell short of the playoffs by just one game, as his brother Trevor mentioned in October. However, Trevor also pointed out that one silver lining is that his brother will likely have extra time to recover.
“This timing could be beneficial for him, especially since he might have a longer period to properly rehab his elbow due to the circumstances,” Trevor said. “He’s definitely shown improvement this year and has become stronger. The goal now is to focus on healing and coming back even better.”
