Italy

In a remarkable find, a wildlife photographer has uncovered thousands of dinosaur footprints, believed to be around 210 million years old, in a national park located in northern Italy. These prints, measuring up to 15 inches across, can be found in Stelvio National Park within the Central Alps. They form neat parallel rows, showing distinct toe and claw marks, likely belonging to prosauropods—herbivorous ancestors of the Brontosaurus that reached lengths of up to 33 feet. Interestingly, this park is near the border with Switzerland, and it’s close to the site of the upcoming Winter Olympics. Italy’s Ministry of Culture seemed to see a poetic connection in this discovery, stating it unites the past and present, symbolically passing something from nature to the realm of sports.

Australia

In New South Wales, beachgoers are being asked to keep an eye out for endangered turtles. A nest belonging to loggerhead sea turtles was recently spotted on the northern coast. The NSW Turtle Watch program, which relies on volunteers to protect these habitats, is encouraging locals to report any further findings. A spokesperson highlighted the importance of community involvement in ensuring the survival of these nests.

China

French foie gras importers are setting their sights on the Chinese market again. This comes after China had previously placed restrictions on this delicacy amid an outbreak of bird flu in Europe. Recently, French Agriculture Minister Annie Genevard met with China’s ambassador to France, Deng Li, to discuss the possibility of increasing agricultural exports from France to China.

Mexico

In a notable investment move, U.S. investors are pouring hundreds of millions into Mexican soccer ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. A Manhattan-based global investor called General Atlantic has teamed up with Oramani SAB, a sports business operator in Mexico. Together, they are forming a new entity that will own Club América, a leading soccer team in Mexico, as well as Estadio Banorte, the stadium in Mexico City set to host the opening round of the World Cup. Remarkably, the value of this joint venture stands at an impressive $490 million.

Canada

A rare forest of 200-year-old red spruce trees has sparked tension between conservationists and local authorities in Quebec. The provincial Ministry of Natural Resources has proposed constructing a winter road through the Grand Bois Lakes Forest, one of the last untouched areas for the red spruce. This plan has raised alarms among environmentalists, who are protesting the potential impact on this vital ecosystem. They’ve referred to these trees as “A diamond that I want to protect.”
