Katia Leggero Lindor Joins Inaugural Committee of New York Mayor-elect

Katia Leggero Lindor, wife of New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor, has been appointed to the inaugural committee of Mayor-elect Zoran Mamdani. A list released by Mamdani indicates that Leggero Lindor hosts a podcast called “The Unaparent Podcast.” She actively supported Mamdani during the recent election on social media.

In a post she reshared, Leggero Lindor expressed her beliefs, saying, “It’s not against my interests to back politicians who advocate for immigrants, artists, workers, and those who deserve to lead a dignified life. My happiness is linked to the happiness of others, irrespective of our differing economic situations. When we choose kindness, fairness, and solidarity, it’s just human.”

Mamdani seemed thrilled about the committee’s formation, sharing excitement about collaborating with its members. “Our city’s artists, thinkers, organizers, and activists have shaped New York,” he remarked. “This marks a celebration of the movement that made this victory possible and a new beginning for our city. I couldn’t be happier to share this moment with committee members and all New Yorkers across the five boroughs.”

Some other notable names on the committee include actor John Turturro, actress and activist Cynthia Nixon, and actor Kal Penn.

Leggero Lindor, known for her insights on social justice issues, has previously voiced her criticism of the Trump administration regarding diversity and equity programs. She emphasized that ignoring racism doesn’t make it disappear but rather perpetuates ignorance about real issues.

Her husband, Francisco, is entering his sixth season with the Mets after securing a massive 10-year, $341 million contract extension following a trade from the Cleveland Guardians.
