Amy Poehler remembers an incident on a plane for 'being too loud'

Amy Poehler shared a humorous memory of a plane argument that highlighted her Boston upbringing.

During a podcast episode featuring her “Saturday Night Live” co-star Anna Gasteyer, Poehler was reminded of the incident. Gasteyer recalled how Poehler ended up in a disagreement with another passenger while they were flying together, alongside Gasteyer’s baby, Francis, who is now 23.

“You were fighting with a guy,” Gasteyer laughed, prompting Poehler to incredulously ask, “I was still arguing and the baby was there?”

Apparently, a man took issue with Poehler’s loudness and swearing in first class, expressing his frustration in front of Gasteyer’s young daughter. “He was like, ‘Excuse me, it’s too loud in first class,'” Poehler explained, acknowledging her Boston accent briefly taking over. “Let’s just say my Boston came out.” Gasteyer referred to the mid-air clash as “the best thing I’ve ever seen.”

Poehler, who was married to Will Arnett from 2003 until their divorce in 2016, has two sons named Archie, 17, and Abel, 15. Gasteyer wed Charlie McKittrick in 1996 and shares a son, Ulysses, with him, in addition to Frances.

Both Gasteyer, 58, and Poehler, 54, gained fame on “Saturday Night Live” from 2001 to 2002, and they shared the screen in the acclaimed 2004 film “Mean Girls,” where Poehler famously portrayed the “cool mom” to Regina George, played by Rachel McAdams. Gasteyer took on the role of Cady Heron’s mother, played by Lindsay Lohan.

In 2019, the comedic duo came together again for “Wine Country,” alongside other stars like Tina Fey and Maya Rudolph.

Looking back on their time at “SNL,” both expressed their admiration for lifestyle queen Martha Stewart, with Gasteyer known for her spot-on impersonation. Poehler humorously remarked, “Martha, I’m not going to invite you on the show because I’m too scared, but I just want to say you’re something else.”
