Boxer Anthony Joshua Hurt in Deadly Car Accident Days After Beating Jake Paul

Anthony Joshua Injured in Fatal Car Crash

Boxer Anthony Joshua was involved in a serious car accident that led to the fatalities of two individuals, just days after his victory over Jake Paul in a heavyweight fight.

According to local news outlet The Punch, the incident occurred around 11 a.m. on Monday along the bustling Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Makun, Ogun State, Nigeria.

A witness, Adeniyi Olojo, reported that two people died at the scene. He mentioned that Joshua sustained only minor injuries in the collision. Footage of the wreck has circulated online.

At the time of the crash, Joshua was traveling in a Lexus SUV, which collided with a stationary truck. The reasons behind the accident are still being investigated.

Orojo, another witness, described the situation, saying, “It was a convoy that included Joshua in a Lexus and another SUV. He was seated behind the driver, and there was another passenger beside him.” He continued, “Shortly after, we started a rescue effort and called for help.”

Minutes post-accident, personnel from the Federal Road Safety Corps arrived. Tragically, the passenger next to the driver and another individual next to Joshua did not survive.

Joshua, who has British-Nigerian roots, attended school nearby. He recently fought Paul in Miami, knocking him out in the sixth round. A future matchup with Tyson Fury is anticipated in 2026.

Local authorities have confirmed that Joshua was transported to a hospital for treatment.

His promoter, Eddie Hearn, stated, “We’re trying to reach Anthony. For now, we prefer not to speculate on his condition, but thankfully, from the photos, he looks fine.” He added that they would provide more information as it becomes available.
