Mighty Ducks Star Urges Fans to Stop Harassing Tyler Chase
Shaun Weiss, known for his role in “The Mighty Ducks,” is pleading with fans to stop pursuing troubled Nickelodeon actor Tyler Chase for selfies. Weiss believes this behavior is hindering Chase’s efforts to receive necessary help.
Chase, 36, recognized for his part in “Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide,” found himself back on the streets of Riverside, California, after spending 72 hours in a psychiatric facility last week. Weiss provided this update on the concerning situation on Monday.
Alongside local influencer Jake Harris and others, Weiss is committed to assisting Chase in securing a spot in a mental health rehabilitation center. However, according to Weiss, “I think Tyler wants to get treatment first.”
Weiss strongly requested fans to reconsider their actions, stating, “What doesn’t help is if someone wants to go see him and take a selfie for Instagram and they give him money. It’s working against us.”
He further emphasized, “So, please, please refrain from doing that… It’s not helpful. He needs some space right now, and honestly, we don’t know what to do.” It appears that Chase was released from psychiatric care before he could get the support he required.
Weiss mentioned that Harris had found Chase back on the streets after his brief hospital stay and contacted the crisis management team for another assessment.
Reports indicate that during a recent evaluation, the team found Chase to be a danger to himself. Weiss noted that Chase was “smoking methamphetamine during the examination in freezing cold weather without shoes or jackets.”
Despite these findings, the crisis management team decided not to intervene further. Chase, who portrayed Martin Querley on “Ned’s Declassified” from 2004 to 2007, was first seen struggling with addiction in a TikTok clip that circulated in September.
This distressing footage went viral earlier this month when “Ned’s Declassified” alum Daniel Curtis Lee noticed Chase and temporarily offered him shelter, only for Chase to damage the room afterward.
