Google’s 2025 Top Search Trends Revealed
Google has unveiled its list of the most searched topics for 2025, and it highlights figures like Charlie Kirk, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, Zohran Mamdani, and KPop Demon Hunters, reflecting what has captured public interest this year.
Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, topped the trending searches in the U.S. this year after being assassinated during an event at Utah Valley University on September 10.
Following him, Tyler Robinson, believed to be the shooter responsible for Kirk’s death, emerged as the second most searched individual in the “People” category. He was just behind Zohran Mamdani, the newly elected Democratic socialist mayor of New York City, who is set to take office at midnight on New Year’s Eve. Erika Kirk, Charlie’s widow and now the CEO of Turning Point USA, garnered the fourth spot on the list, well above Pope Leo XIV, who made history as the first pope from the U.S. this year.
Kirk’s tragic death ranked as the third most searched news story according to Google. This was just after the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which was signed by President Donald Trump on July 4, and the unprecedented government shutdown lasting 43 days, as Democrats in Congress lobbied for an extension of the Affordable Care Act subsidies.
