Jermie Bernard Speaks After Defeat
After the final game of his college football career, Alabama’s standout receiver, Jermie Bernard, closed the press conference by expressing his faith, saying “glory to my Lord and Savior.”
The Crimson Tide faced a significant defeat against No. 1 Indiana in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals at the Rose Bowl, ending with a score of 38-3. Though the loss felt tough, Bernard found reasons to appreciate the experience.
“I want to give glory to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for giving us this opportunity and allowing this team to be here in California together and enjoy this moment,” he stated as the press session wrapped up.
It’s interesting how even after a disappointing game, he said, “Even if things don’t go as planned, there is still much to be thankful for.”
Sitting with teammate Tim Keenan III, who played through injuries this season, Bernard emphasized gratitude for their ability to take the field despite challenges. He mentioned that they were fortunate to leave the game without further injuries, adding that there really is a lot to appreciate.
He quoted the Bible, referencing Matthew 6:33, and stressed the importance of prioritizing faith.
Despite Indiana suffering its worst postseason loss ever, Bernard managed to lead his team with 60 receiving yards during the game.
Bernard followed head coach Karen DeBoer from Washington to Alabama, stepping right into a starting position. In his time at Alabama, he recorded impressive statistics, including 50 receptions for 794 yards in 2024 and then, another stellar performance with 64 receptions for 862 yards the following year.
Reflecting on his journey, he said, “It was one of the best decisions I made.” He expressed deep appreciation for Coach DeBoer, acknowledging his significant impact on his life.
Looking ahead, Bernard is anticipated to announce his entry into the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft.
