Jack White Critiques Rep. Tim Burchett Over AI Video
Jack White, the frontman of The White Stripes, recently called out Congressman Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) for sharing an AI-generated video. In this clip, a lookalike of White appears to accuse followers of being “fascists,” saying, “Don’t even think about listening to my music, you fascists.” It’s unclear who exactly is targeted by this quote.
Burchett shared the video with a comment that appeared to poke fun, although the original clip was later deleted, and a note was added indicating its AI origins. This all unfolded on December 29.
White reacted to the situation on Instagram the next day, expressing his frustration with lawmakers like Burchett. In his post, he described such politicians as “cowards,” claiming they wouldn’t dare speak to him directly. He remarked, “Trump really lowered the bar when he brought disaster to this government,” pointing out the lack of decency among some Republican representatives. He lamented the state of Tennessee, suggesting that Burchett and his followers were oblivious to the bigger picture.
Following these comments, White disabled the ability to comment on his Instagram posts.
In the past, White hasn’t shied away from criticizing Trump and the Republican Party, labeling them “fascists.” He has made various statements against Trump, including a lawsuit over the unauthorized use of his music.
Burchett, for his part, claimed he was aware the video was generated by AI, arguing it was intended as a joke about White. He went on to suggest that perhaps White should focus on more pressing matters, like the exclusion of Johnny Paycheck from the Country Music Hall of Fame, which he felt was a greater injustice.
