Raiders might consider trading their standout player Maxx Crosby

Maxx Crosby and Raiders on the Rocks After Turbulent Season

It seems like the Las Vegas Raiders and Maxx Crosby might be heading for a split following a tumultuous end to the 2025 season.

The team’s decision to place Crosby on season-ending injured reserve right before Week 17 allegedly frustrated him, raising the chance that a trade could be in the cards.

According to Deanna Russini from The Athletic, there are whispers suggesting that “Vegas might be ready to part ways with their star pass rusher” if tensions persist.

Just last Friday, Crosby, a five-time Pro Bowler, walked out of the team facility after learning he wouldn’t play in the last two games because of knee issues.

Head coach Pete Carroll shared his disagreement with Crosby’s decision to leave. He expressed some dissatisfaction over the situation, saying, “He knows he’s devastated and he’s saying, ‘I want to get out of here.’ And I said, ‘Yeah, get out of here.’ So off he went.” Carroll added that such feelings weren’t out of the blue; they’d discussed this before, and he fully understood Crosby’s reaction.

When the Raiders announced Crosby’s placement on IR, they mentioned their hope for him to return in 2026 and beyond. But things took a turn later when Crosby posted videos online of himself shooting hoops and jumping on a trampoline, leaving fans uncertain if these were recent clips or old ones.

On the podcast “Let’s Go!” Crosby didn’t directly address his feelings about being sent home or his health for the last two games. He did, however, talk about his commitment to the game, saying, “There are core principles that you have to follow… You play to win. You play for your teammates and you put everything you have into the game.”

Prior to his shutdown, Crosby recorded 10 sacks and made 73 tackles over 15 games.

Adding to the drama, reports circulated that Carroll might be out of a job after just one season in Las Vegas. With the Raiders boasting the worst record in the league at 2-14, losing to the Chiefs this weekend would effectively secure the No. 1 pick in the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft.
