Rob Schneider Critiques Hollywood’s Direction

Rob Schneider has expressed his concerns regarding what he describes as the “corruption of Hollywood’s soul.” He believes that Hollywood is undergoing a significant dismantling, partly due to a perceived “blacklist” targeting conservative celebrities.

In a recent interview, the actor, known for roles in films like “Saturday Night Live,” “Deuce Bigalo,” and “The Hot Chick,” noted that his acting opportunities dwindled after he began vocalizing his right-leaning political beliefs.

He shared on the “America’s Thought Leader” podcast that “for me, that was the only time I was going to be in a movie.” Schneider posited that expressing truth in what he sees as an age of authoritarianism is courageous, stating, “And I’m not saying I’m brave… When I consider true courage, I think of those who dedicated everything to this land, as Abraham Lincoln described.”

He remarked on the personal cost of sharing his views, saying, “It’s a sacrifice. The fact that we’re not going to put ‘Deuce Bigelow’ in first place, I think that’s okay.” Schneider admitted that while he laughed at this comparison, it was indeed unfortunate how his stances affected his career.

He continued, noting that the entertainment industry tends to shy away from controversy, whether that inclination is justified or not. “They don’t want you to be called a nag, which is understandable, but… if we want to maintain a free society, we need individuals who have the courage to stand up,” he explained.

Though he acknowledged the First Amendment’s recognition of such courage, he pointed out that free speech also comes with consequences. Jokingly, he referenced Jimmy Kimmel’s brief suspension in 2025 after his comments regarding Charlie Kirk’s assassination, stating, “It’s going to be expensive.”

Schneider drew attention to Charlton Heston, a legendary actor who faced backlash for his conservative views despite his support of the civil rights movement. “I think it’s embarrassing… This represents a rottenness in Hollywood’s soul. The current blacklisting of conservatives continues this destruction,” he asserted. He fears that Hollywood is nearing complete dissolution.

Looking ahead, Schneider speculated that in the next five years, many Hollywood studios may serve no purpose beyond real estate, as audiences might turn away from theaters altogether. “I think you’re currently witnessing the rejection… the collapse of Hollywood,” he concluded.
