Hilton Hotels Responds to Accommodation Incident with DHS Employees

Hilton Hotels has clarified that the Minneapolis Hilton location, which reportedly denied service to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) employees, operates independently.

Everpeak Hospitality, the owner of the Hampton Inn Lakeville in Minneapolis, issued a statement addressing the situation. They expressed their commitment to being a welcoming environment for all and emphasized that they acted swiftly to resolve the matter. They stated, “We are contacting the affected guests to ensure they are accommodated. We do not discriminate against any individual or agency. We apologize to the affected guests.”

In response to the incident, Bill Melgin from FOX News shared a statement from Hilton Hotels, noting that the hotels they franchise aim to create welcoming spaces. Hilton also mentioned they are investigating the matter with the specific hotel involved.

The statement reiterated, “Hilton hotels serve as places where all are welcome.” It clarified that the hotel in question operates independently and that the reported actions do not align with Hilton’s core values.

According to Hilton’s statement, they are looking into the issue further, stating that Hilton collaborates with governments, law enforcement, and community leaders globally to ensure their hotels remain open and accessible to everyone.

This response from Hilton came after DHS highlighted the situation. A post from DHS indicated that there was an organized effort in Minneapolis to exclude their law enforcement personnel. The DHS reported that when an employee tried to book a room using official government rates, the reservation was maliciously canceled. They called this behavior “unacceptable,” questioning why Hilton would support actions allegedly undermining their mission to enforce immigration laws.

The DHS shared a photo of internal emails from the Hampton Inn Lakeville, indicating that rooms were being canceled due to perceived affiliations with immigration enforcement. One message mentioned, “We do not allow ICE or immigration officers to be on our property.”
