Chris Jones isn't convinced by the talk of Travis Kelce retiring

Will Travis Kelce Return Next Season?

This is the question ringing in the minds of Kansas City Chiefs fans, especially with the buzz surrounding Taylor Swift’s fiancé, Travis Kelce.

Teammate Chris Jones recently expressed skepticism about Kelce retiring. He mentioned that, should he choose to hang up his cleats, there are lucrative broadcasting opportunities waiting for him.

Last Sunday marked the Chiefs’ season finale, a narrow 14-12 loss against the Raiders, which could very well have been Kelce’s swan song in the NFL.

Yet, Jones feels confident that Kelce will make a return next year. “I can’t make any promises about the other guy, but I believe he will come back,” he noted. “He has this infectious energy and passion. Kelce is one of the best, if not the absolute best, tight ends we’ve ever seen. My respect and love for him are immense.”

As the season wrapped up, Kelce recorded 851 receiving yards and five touchdowns, becoming just the third tight end in NFL history to surpass 13,000 receiving yards in his career.

When speaking to reporters after the game, Kelce indicated he might need some time to decide on his future. “It either comes to you quickly or requires some contemplation. Last year, I felt confident quickly about returning. This time, it might take a bit longer,” he reflected.

Should he choose to pursue broadcasting, industry watchers like The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand suggest he would be a prime candidate for a top NFL position, potentially earning between $10 to $20 million.

This season stood out as the first time since 2014 that the Chiefs failed to make it to the playoffs.
