NATO ambassador indicates that officials might be close to a peace agreement for Ukraine

Discussions surrounding Ukraine’s security might finally be progressing. U.S. Ambassador to NATO, Matthew Whitaker, shared insights on “Fox & Friends First” as negotiations kicked off in Paris. Whitaker indicated that the allies could soon finalize a framework aimed at setting the stage for a peace agreement with Russia.

He mentioned, “What we should anticipate is reaching some agreements. One of those is a coalition of about 50 allies, with many NATO members poised to endorse a specific security framework for Ukraine.” He also emphasized that the U.S. would participate, either as part of a coalition or on its own.

This arrangement could, potentially, lead to a peace deal with Russia. Whitaker expressed optimism, stating, “We’re making significant strides, and we might be on the verge of a peace agreement.” However, he added a note of caution, mentioning their ongoing prayers for peace while committing to ensure that it is upheld.

Representing the U.S. in these discussions are Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of former President Donald Trump.

Interestingly, Secretary of State Marco Rubio won’t be present due to commitments related to the capture of Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro. Whitaker called this a “major victory for the security of the United States and the Western Hemisphere.”

Whitaker explained that the operation serves as part of a larger deterrence strategy, conveying a distinct message to America’s adversaries. He insisted, “Those adversaries should take note of what unfolded.” He cited the U.S. military’s “Operation Midnight Hammer” from June 2025, showcasing a decisive response to perceived threats, specifically targeting Iran’s nuclear capabilities.

Whitaker concluded that, to him, such actions are key to ensuring peace through strength.
