Riley Gaines Launches New Podcast
Riley Gaines, the former NCAA swimmer known for standing against transgender women’s involvement in sports, has embarked on a surprising new journey: hosting her own podcast. “The Riley Gaines Show” made its debut recently, featuring an interview with Nick Shirley, an independent journalist who gained attention for reporting on fraud allegations in Minnesota. This launch follows her tenure with Outkick’s “Gains for Girls,” which has now been rebranded as part of Fox News Media’s broader media expansion, which also includes shows like “Ruthless” and “Will Kane Country.”
Reflecting on her unexpected journey, Gaines noted that she never thought she’d be in a position to impact women’s sports after competing against transgender athlete Leah Thomas in 2022, a situation that compelled her to speak out. She recalled a time not long ago when she was a senior in college, planning to attend dental school. “It feels like I’ve turned my life upside down, really,” she shared. “Sometimes, I think God has a sense of humor when it comes to our plans.”
“I never felt prepared for this role,” she continued, recognizing how life-changing events have shifted her path. “It’s interesting; God doesn’t always call those who are ready but prepares those He chooses.”
For Gaines, awareness of her passion grew as she saw the implications of the gender ideology movement on her and her teammates. Things took on a new intensity when her daughter was born last year, fueling her resolve to advocate for women’s sports.
Hosting the podcast is a role she embraces, especially as a means to connect with younger audiences, particularly young women. “That’s really my focus now, and I feel more equipped to do this than I did just a few years ago,” she stated.
Gaines also drew inspiration from several media figures, including Dana Perino, who she admires both for her kindness and professional acumen. “Her insights have been invaluable to me,” Gaines remarked, highlighting how Perino’s advice has helped her navigate her own career.
In addition to Perino, Gaines mentioned Kayleigh McEnany and Caroline Leavitt as figures she respects, appreciated for their professionalism and ability to challenge the media landscape. She hopes to feature Leavitt on her podcast soon. “It’s vital to have young voices in these roles,” she said, acknowledging the influence these women have had on her perspective.
The decision to rebrand her podcast aimed to widen the content and audience focus. Even as she extends her reach, Gaines remains dedicated to addressing issues pertinent to young women, who she views as critical to the conservative movement. “I believe the goal is to offer candid insights on culture, politics, faith, and motherhood,” she explained.
Overall, Gaines is optimistic about the future of her show, anticipating many opportunities to make a significant impact. New episodes of “The Riley Gaines Show” are released every Wednesday and Friday on various podcast platforms.
