Anneliese van der Pol recently shared her rather “awkward” experience with Ashley Tisdale, a fellow Disney Channel star, during a podcast episode that resurfaced recently. In the August 2023 episode of the “Big Names” podcast, the 41-year-old star of “That’s So Raven” recounted a time when she waited on Tisdale, who is now 40.
Van der Pol reflected on serving Tisdale while she was waitstaff, humorously expressing that it would be nice to say Tisdale was delightful. After taking a sip of her drink, she continued, noting Tisdale didn’t respond to her greeting with any enthusiasm, merely ignoring her.
Van der Pol described Tisdale’s demeanor as distinctly “uncomfortable,” to the point that she felt she should reassure her by saying, “It’s okay, girl.”
In another part of her conversation, she mentioned feeling the same kind of discomfort when observing other guests. She found herself trying to recognize them and, in a way, judging their reactions too.
The Broadway performer also expressed relief about not needing to audition anymore. While working as a waitress, she felt confident in her abilities, stating that, compared to acting, she was adept at serving food and cleaning tables.
Tisdale has yet to respond to Van der Pol’s comments that garnered some attention in 2023.
This week, Tisdale is back in the headlines after she delivered a critique of “toxic” mom groups in a sharp essay featured in The Cut. While representatives for Tisdale denied the piece was about her own network of famous mom friends, including Mandy Moore and Hilary Duff, Duff’s husband had a go at it online, sharing a snippet of Tisdale’s work with a cheeky title that poked fun at her celebrity parent group.
Later, he deleted the post, which created quite a stir.
In another twist, Tisdale’s husband Christopher French stirred the pot on social media with his posts about the importance of choosing whether to engage in online debates. Van der Pol, while remaining neutral on Tisdale’s current online drama, saw the humor in it and commented about the celebrity mom situation, saying it was quite a spectacle.
