ICE Agent Involved in Fatal Shooting in Minneapolis
A 37-year-old woman in Minneapolis has tragically died after being shot by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent on Wednesday.
Authorities have not disclosed her identity.
On that morning, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) stated that the ICE agent fired his weapon after the woman allegedly tried to ram her vehicle into the officers during a targeted enforcement operation.
As explained by DHS, during what they called their “largest immigration operation ever,” it was claimed that left-wing rioters attempted to use her vehicle against law enforcement, which the agency labeled as “domestic terrorism.”
“An ICE officer, fearing for his life, the lives of his fellow law enforcement and the safety of the public, fired defensive shots. He used his training and saved his own life and that of his fellow officers,” the DHS mentioned.
“The alleged perpetrator was hit and is deceased. Thankfully, the ICE officers who were hurt are expected to make full recoveries,” the agency added.
Online videos depict the woman blocking the ICE agents in the street, and as she tries to drive away, an unnamed ICE officer shoots at her vehicle’s front windshield. Her SUV then appears to lose control and crashes into a pole.
Reports indicate that paramedics attempted CPR at the scene, but she was later pronounced dead.
This is an evolving story, and more updates may follow.
