Jenny McCarthy Won’t Be Returning to “The View”
It seems Jenny McCarthy won’t be making a comeback to “The View” anytime soon. The former co-host, who was part of season 17, stated she has no intention of returning to the show despite being asked. During a recent appearance on a podcast, she revealed, “They asked me to come back for the reunion show and stuff. I thought, would I ever step foot in that place beyond my own corpse?”
McCarthy joined “The View” back in 2013, and it was suggested that her presence would help make the show less polarizing. She explained, “The reason they wanted to bring me in was because they said it was too polarizing. At the time, they thought it was too polarizing.” However, things didn’t go as planned. “Well, it lasted a week. A whole week,” McCarthy chuckled, reminiscing. “I didn’t see myself as a politician, so I thought I was perfect for the job. Then a week later, they mentioned politics, and I thought, ‘Oh my god, what am I going to do?’”
Her role was meant to revolve around light-hearted discussions about topics like reality TV shows, but that quickly changed. “They’d say, ‘Today we’re discussing the hostage crisis and whether the U.S. government should pay the ransom,’” she said. That left her thinking, “What? I just know who won on ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ so it was pretty tough to navigate that year.”
Interestingly, McCarthy has also shared that, even though she claims to be politically independent, she finds herself leaning more conservatively these days. The current administration seems to have sparked a more vocal side of her, which she hadn’t previously expressed. “I’ve become more political with my opinions because the recent administration has been very impactful,” she noted. But reflected on earlier times, saying, “Back then? Oh, I didn’t do that. I didn’t even.”
