Tyreek Hill Reacts to Mike McDaniel’s Firing

Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill shared a GIF of comedian Kevin Hart on Thursday, right after the news broke about the firing of Miami’s head coach, Mike McDaniel.

The GIF showed Hart expressing surprise with a simple “Damn!”

Hill’s tweet was pretty straightforward—no words, just the image—coming on the heels of the Dolphins parting ways with their fourth-year coach, following a disappointing 7-10 season and a second consecutive year without significant success.

In response to his dismissal, McDaniel expressed gratitude for his time with the team, stating, “It has been the honor of a lifetime to coach this team and be part of this great franchise.” He mentioned having a vision of a united team fueled by passion and energy, and while he felt let down by the results, he appreciated the effort from the coaches, players, and staff who supported that vision.

The 2025 season was a challenging one for Miami. Notably, the Dolphins let go of their longtime general manager, Chris Grier, in October. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa also faced backlash for voicing frustrations about teammates and revealing internal team issues.

Tyreek Hill’s season was cut short, as he could only participate in four games due to injury. He suffered a knee injury in a game against the Jets on September 29 that ended his season prematurely.

Looking ahead, Hill is expected to carry a hefty cap hit of nearly $51.9 million in 2026.

If the Dolphins decide to release Hill after June 1, it could free up $36 million in cap space, potentially aiding the franchise in managing Tagovailoa’s substantial contract. Tagovailoa’s deal includes $54 million guaranteed for 2026, and part of his 2027 salary will become guaranteed in mid-March.

Hill, who signed a three-year, $90 million contract with Miami in August 2024, has hinted at the idea of returning to the Chiefs. He recently shared a clip on Snapchat responding to a fan who remarked they missed him in Kansas City. Hill playfully replied, “You’re being very kind this morning. Let’s see what happens in the offseason.”

In another Snapchat story, Hill created a “this or that” game, showcasing a Chiefs helmet alongside a grinning emoji and a Dolphins helmet with a bulging eyes emoji.
