Jenny McCarthy Shares Mixed Feelings About Marriage
Jenny McCarthy recently opened up about her marriage to Donnie Wahlberg, admitting she feels “dependent” on him. However, she humorously noted that his snoring can be a “challenge.” In an appearance on “Live” with Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, McCarthy praised her husband, stating, “He’s the greatest human being I’ve ever met,” and reflecting on their 11 years together. She emphasized that his colleagues often remark on his exceptional character.
The audience cheered as she shared how Wahlberg treats her like royalty, calling their relationship “textbook, absolutely perfect.”
Yet, she revealed that when she began experiencing menopause, his snoring intensified, leading to sleepless nights. “Of course, you start losing sleep anyway,” she said.
Despite this, the “Masked Singer” host found ways to cope. Now, she wears large noise-canceling headphones to bed and builds a “Great Wall” of pillows between them, which Wahlberg affectionately refers to as such. “I incorporated these insulations that I think really helped me get through the night. I mean… I sleep with these giant headphones on every night,” she explained.
McCarthy feels that her bedroom has become soundproof, joking, “I hear the ocean waves in my ears.” Her solution seems to work, as she advised anyone struggling with similar issues to consider using big headphones and sound waves.
She lightheartedly mentioned that if Wahlberg snores too loudly, she gives him a gentle “love tap” to encourage him to roll over. This elicited laughter from the hosts, who also shared their own funny experiences with snoring.
In addition, their five Shih Tzus add to the sleeping dynamic, as they share the bed without disrupting the couple’s sleep.
In a previous interview, Wahlberg discussed their commitment to each other, noting they both benefited from personal therapy before deciding to attend couples’ therapy together. “It’s like a pre-emptive strike,” he said, acknowledging that every new relationship brings its own challenges. He believes that intimate relationships often expose vulnerabilities that might not arise in other areas of life.
Since starting to date in July 2013 and marrying in August 2014, both have children from previous relationships. Wahlberg has two sons, while McCarthy has a son named Evan.
Their focus remains on prioritizing their relationship. Wahlberg emphasized the importance of trust and nurturing their bond, highlighting that it’s crucial, especially given their past experiences.
Despite their busy schedules, Wahlberg noted that they still find ways to connect, often FaceTiming to maintain that closeness even when they’re apart. “We love doing this,” he stated, pointing out that this practice isn’t born out of anxiety, but rather a desire to stay connected.
