Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer being probed for 'improper' ties with staff member

Investigation into Labor Secretary’s Conduct

Labor Secretary Lori Chavez Delemer is currently under investigation due to serious allegations claiming she misused her position by engaging in inappropriate relationships with subordinates, as indicated by sources and documents reviewed.

The complaint, lodged with the Department of Labor’s Office of Inspector General last week, suggests that Chavez Delemer, 57, hosted an alleged affair partner multiple times in her Washington, D.C., apartment and during hotel stays while on official travel.

Additional accusations include “travel fraud,” alleging that she consumed alcohol in the Oval Office while working and had aides manage trips that allowed her to spend taxpayer funds on friends and family outings.

White House press secretary Taylor Rogers has dismissed these allegations as “unfounded,” emphasizing that Chavez Delemer is a valuable member of President Trump’s team who will continue promoting his America First agenda.

Besides the romantic misconduct allegations, officials have described her as a “hellish boss” who purportedly required her staff to run personal errands while on duty.

The investigation is not just focused on Chavez Delemer; her Chief of Staff Jihoon Han and Deputy Chief of Staff Rebecca Wright are also reportedly included due to their potential involvement in these matters.

DOL spokeswoman Courtney Parella strongly refuted the allegations, asserting their baseless nature. She stated that Chavez Delemer remains dedicated to the department’s mission and is exploring legal avenues against what she terms unfounded accusations from unnamed sources.

While the DOL Office of Inspector General has stated its commitment to addressing fraud and corruption, it refrains from commenting on ongoing investigations.

According to the complaint, several meetings between Chavez Delemer and the alleged affair partner occurred after she had told security that she didn’t need protection. One of the alleged visits happened when the security detail had left.

In late October, while the federal government was shutdown, Chavez Delemer, along with her staff, attended a celebration in Las Vegas. Reports and video evidence suggest that the interactions during this trip appeared unprofessional, although the Post has yet to view the specific footage.

When rumors regarding her alleged misconduct circulated, Chavez Delemer supposedly instructed her Chief of Staff to “leave it alone,” according to the complaint. It also mentions her drinking alcohol in her office and having a “stash” of various drinks there.

Over the course of 2025, taxpayer funds were reportedly used for multiple trips, with many of the destinations being locations where she has personal connections. Her husband, Dr. Sean Delemer, firmly denied the accusations, asserting their falsehood.

Despite the allegations, it’s noted that the Labor Secretary has recently undertaken several trips labeled as personal, indicating a potential mix of official and personal time during her travel.

Throughout her unsuccessful re-election campaign for the House in 2024, Chavez Delemer reportedly spent significant amounts on luxury accommodations and services, which are legally permissible under federal election laws.

Unfortunately, there’s no comment yet from Chavez Delemer regarding these unfolding allegations.
