Dante Moore’s College Season Comes to a Close

Dante Moore’s college football season has ended. While thoughts about his future, particularly concerning a potential NFL career, are swirling, he seems to be staying present, focusing on the recent Peach Bowl game.

In the Peach Bowl semifinals, Oregon State faced off against Indiana, suffering a 56-22 defeat. When reporters pressed him about the NFL draft rumors, Moore indicated he preferred to reflect on the game instead.

“Right now, I’m just enjoying this moment and appreciate my teammates,” he stated. “Of course, I’ll discuss my future with my coach and family later, but for now, I want to be here for my teammates.”

Though he hasn’t officially declared for the NFL draft, rumors abound. Some mock drafts have placed him high, with one from ESPN suggesting he could go second overall to the Jets, who are looking for a quarterback.

Mel Kiper Jr., a well-known draft analyst, has even noted that Moore’s talent might outshine the Heisman Trophy winner, showing how highly he is regarded.

Unfortunately, Moore struggled early in the game, throwing a pick-six on his very first play. While he did manage to lead a touchdown drive on the following possession, Oregon State couldn’t recover from that poor start and committed two fumbles ahead of halftime.

By the end of the game, he completed 24 of 39 passes with two touchdown throws, but it was a disappointing conclusion to his season. Coming into the game, he had been one of the top quarterbacks, throwing for 3,280 yards and 28 touchdowns this season.

Now, with the Jets having had a tough 3-14 season, their quarterback situation looks uncertain. If Moore chooses to return for another college season, it would definitely inject more excitement into the upcoming draft process.
