Clint Kubiak Interviewed for Giants’ Head Coach Position
Clint Kubiak entered the world not long after the Giants triumphed over his father in Super Bowl XXI.
Fast forward nearly 39 years, and Kubiak participated in a virtual interview on Saturday for the head coach role with the Giants, as reported by NFL Network.
Currently the offensive coordinator for the Seahawks, Kubiak is one of the sought-after candidates this season, having guided the NFL’s third-highest scoring offense.
His father, Gary Kubiak, served as John Elway’s backup during the Broncos’ loss to the Giants in 1986. Later, he became the head coach for both the Texans and the Broncos, where he led the team to a Super Bowl 50 victory with Peyton Manning.
Clint has gained experience working with his father in Denver and Minnesota, having connections to the well-respected Shanahan coaching lineage.
His career has seen him as the Vikings’ offensive coordinator in 2021, Broncos’ quarterbacks coach in 2022, 49ers’ passing game coordinator in 2023, and Saints’ offensive coordinator in 2024.
As with those from the Shanahan tree, Kubiak emphasizes the running game. The Seahawks effectively paired quarterback Sam Darnold with a potent duo in Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet, proving their offensive strategy.
The Giants seem to be optimistic about their own promising backfield with Cam Skatebo and Tyrone Tracy Jr.
Additionally, the Giants interviewed Broncos special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi virtually on the same day.
As per NFL regulations, only coaches from playoff teams with first-round byes, like the Broncos and Seahawks, were available for virtual interviews this week.
The Giants also held a virtual presser with Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph.
Kubiak’s offensive approach highlights a strong focus on developing quarterback Jackson Dart during his coaching pursuit.
In-person interviews with contracted coaches are set to begin on January 19th.
The Giants plan to meet with prominent candidate John Harbaugh, recently let go by the Ravens, later this week.
