Podcasters Discuss Political Contributions
Actor Matt Rogers and former Saturday Night Live star Bowen Yang have both expressed skepticism about supporting Representative Jasmine Crockett’s Senate campaign in Texas. “We shouldn’t waste money on that,” Rogers stated during a recent episode of the podcast Las Culturistas.
Rogers elaborated, saying, “Anytime a politician reveals too much about themselves, I’m done.” He urged listeners to think twice before donating to Crockett. Yang agreed, adding his own thoughts on financial constraints in today’s economy. “Money is already hard to come by,” he noted.
Rogers emphasized that he didn’t believe Crockett would win the Senate seat, referencing Beto O’Rourke’s earlier unsuccessful campaign. “If he couldn’t do it, she can’t either,” he remarked. He pointed out that the issue isn’t personal; instead, he feels she’s already too established as a politician. “We need someone less defined,” he said.
Reflecting on past elections, Rogers pondered whether listening to more populist messages could have made a difference in previous campaigns. He noted that the dynamics seem to shift over time, mentioning the upcoming 2028 election and expressing caution about rallying around established figures like Gavin Newsom. “Let’s not repeat mistakes that people already dislike,” he remarked.
Yang also shared his regrets about supporting Hillary Clinton during the 2016 election, saying, “I regret being a Hillary Stan.” Rogers, on the other hand, felt no remorse, insisting that he put in a significant effort to win. “I don’t have any regrets because I think I worked hard to win,” he responded. Yang, however, expressed his lingering feelings of foolishness regarding his past support.
