Davante Adams criticizes Jets' struggles prior to Rams' playoff victory

Davante Adams’ Impact After Short Jets Stint

Davante Adams only played 11 games with the Jets, yet his presence lingered as he appeared in an interview with Fox before the Rams’ playoff victory against the Panthers on Saturday.

During the segment, Adams sat alongside Puka Nacua and chatted with Carissa Thompson. Nacua asked him what insights from previous losses he felt could benefit the team now.

“Honestly, it reminds me of Kobe’s mindset. He wasn’t smiling after his games because, well, the job wasn’t finished,” Adams shared. “The ultimate aim is to win it all. We need to muster grit and resilience; otherwise, if we don’t bring our best, we could find ourselves at home against the Jets in no time.”

The Jets have endured a playoff drought for 15 seasons, officially eliminated in December after a loss to the Dolphins. In a bid to change their fortunes, they traded for Adams from the Raiders, teaming him up with Aaron Rodgers to see if they could ignite their old chemistry.

However, things didn’t pan out as expected, resulting in 854 yards and seven touchdowns, contributing to a disappointing 5-12 season.

In contrast, Adams signed a two-year deal with the Rams, where he thrived with Nacua and quarterback Matthew Stafford. He racked up 789 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns during the regular season, and added five receptions for 72 yards in the Rams’ 34-31 playoff win on Saturday.

The six-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro didn’t hit the 1,000-yard milestone but remained pivotal in his team’s offensive efforts, leading the NFL in yards per game and points per game during the regular season.

Meanwhile, the Jets seem far from breaking their postseason drought, finishing 3-14 in head coach Aaron Glenn’s inaugural season. Their situation worsened when they traded key players like Quinnen Williams and Sauce Gardner before the trade deadline and continue to search for their future franchise quarterback.

Los Angeles is set to face off against the second-seeded Bears in the regional round if the 49ers win Sunday. If the Eagles pull off a win versus San Francisco, they will meet the top-seeded Seahawks instead.
