“We Globezing! We Globezing everyone!”
The 83rd Golden Globe Awards, often dubbed “Hollywood’s Party of the Year,” aired on January 11, with quite a twist. Seth Rogen snagged the award for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Series, Musical or Comedy.
So, why is it a twist? Well, Rogen’s hit Apple TV series satirically dives into Hollywood and the entertainment world, and every episode is amusingly titled “Golden Globe Awards.” For the show, Rogen and his team even recreated the award ceremony, and now, he finds himself actually living it!
Guest stars Zoe Kravitz and Dave Franco presented the award to Rogen, whose competitors included Glen Powell, Jeremy Allen White, Adam Brody, and the iconic duo, Martin Short and Steve Martin.
After receiving the Golden Globe statuette, Rogen chuckled, saying, “This is so weird. We were just pretending to do this and now it’s happening! I thought the only way to get it was to create a whole show that gave myself a fake show.”
He humorously downplayed his win, stating, “Congratulations to everyone here, especially those sitting on the lower level. It’s such an honor. I think if we win, we should turn it around. The other candidates are incredible. I grew up watching Steve Martin and Martin Short, and I often thought, ‘One day I’ll beat them.’ I never actually thought that.”
Rogen expressed, “You’re only as good as the people you work with, and I’m so fortunate to choose them. I want to thank the rest of the cast on the show. Thanks to Chase, Kathryn Hahn, Catherine O’Hara, Ted Sarandos, Dave and Zoe, Jean Smart, and everyone else who is part of this cast. I can’t thank you enough. I’m out of here right now. Thank you!”
But was there someone he didn’t mention? Apparently so—Sal Saperstein! The man, the myth, the legend from episode 8. Come on, Seth, we love you, but that seems a bit harsh!
This year, the show won the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Comedy Series, and both Rogen and Ike Barinholtz (who plays Saperstein) received the Outstanding Performance in a Comedy Series award. The show is also up for the 2026 Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series (Musical or Comedy). So, who knows? Maybe we’ll someday hear a heartfelt “Thank You, Sal Saperstein!”
