Ohio Dentist’s Ex-Husband Arrested in Double Murder Case

In a case that’s drawn significant attention, an ex-husband linked to the murder of an Ohio dentist’s wife is set to appear in a courtroom in Illinois on Monday for extradition proceedings.

Michael David McKee, aged 39, was taken into custody under suspicion of murdering a couple in Columbus, Ohio. According to police reports, they were called to a residence in the Wineland Park area around 10 a.m. on December 30, where they discovered the bodies of Spencer Tepe, 37, and his wife, Monique Tepe, who was 39. It’s important to note that McKee is Monique’s former husband.

McKee was arrested shortly before noon on Saturday at the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office, per jail records. He faces charges in Ohio of two counts of murder tied to Spencer and Monique’s deaths.

From what we gather, Monique was married to McKee starting on August 22, 2015, but they filed for divorce in 2017. He has since resided in various states, including Virginia, Nevada, and recently Chicago, Illinois, where he practices as a vascular surgeon in the Rockford area.

The court appearance is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. in Winnebago County, Illinois, as the process of extradition to Ohio unfolds.

Police managed to track down McKee by connecting him to a vehicle that was seen approaching the Tepe residence shortly before the incident and leaving soon after. That vehicle was later located in Rockford, Illinois, where investigators gathered evidence linking it to McKee.

Before McKee’s arrest, Columbus police had released surveillance footage showing a “person of interest” walking in an alley near the Tepe’s home during the early hours of December 30.

In what was, honestly, a startling scene, Spencer and Monique were discovered dead after a friend who visited their home alerted a 911 operator, indicating they saw a body inside. The urgency in the caller’s voice was palpable, stating, “There’s a body… we can’t get closer to see any more.”

Spencer’s brother-in-law, Rob Misley, mentioned that the couple was just weeks away from their fifth wedding anniversary. The tragedy of it all is hard to believe, and it’s left many in shock.
