Brooks Koepka Announces Return to PGA Tour

On Monday, Brooks Koepka revealed that he is making a comeback to the PGA Tour after spending over three years with LIV Golf, a rival organization. This news follows his recent announcement about withdrawing from that series.

In a post on X, Koepka expressed gratitude towards his family and team for their unwavering support throughout his career. He reminisced about his childhood dream of playing on the PGA Tour, stating, “I’m just as excited to announce my return to the PGA TOUR today. This opportunity is especially meaningful to me because it’s closer to home and allows me to spend more time with my family.”

He also shared his optimism about the PGA Tour’s future, mentioning new leadership and an equity program aimed at giving players a stake in the organization. However, he acknowledged that this decision comes with financial implications that he fully accepts.

Koepka is set to compete in the Farmers Insurance Open and the WM Phoenix Open in the near future. The CEO of the PGA Tour, Brian Rolup, noted that Koepka’s return has prompted the introduction of a program for returning members, which aims to create pathways for past members to rejoin under specific conditions.

Rolup explained that this initiative includes strict limits on tournament access and potential earnings. It also requires returning members to meet a performance standard, which is based on winning prestigious tournaments like the Players Championship and others between 2022 and 2025.

Koepka, upon rejoining, agreed to several conditions, including a significant forfeiture of potential equity in the Tour’s player equity program. This could represent a financial hit estimated between $50 million and $85 million, influenced by his future performance and the Tour’s growth.

Additionally, he plans to make a $5 million charitable donation to an organization yet to be specified.

Rolup encouraged anyone considering a return like Koepka’s to apply for reinstatement by February 2.
