Timothy Busfield turns himself in to police, refutes child sex abuse claims: 'All false'

Actor and director Timothy Busfield surrendered to law enforcement in New Mexico on Tuesday after a warrant was issued for his arrest due to child molestation charges, asserting his innocence as he was taken into custody, reports suggest.

The 68-year-old, known for his role in “The West Wing,” turned himself in to the Albuquerque police in 2024. This followed accusations of engaging in inappropriate sexual conduct with twin boys, aged 11, while directing the Fox series “Cleaning Women.” According to reports, Busfield stated, “I didn’t do anything to those little boys,” in a video shared by his lawyer prior to his arrest.

“I’m going to confront these lies. They’re terrible lies,” he continued in the footage.

“They’re all lies and I didn’t do anything to those little kids. I’m going to fight this with a great team—I’ll be acquitted. I know this is all wrong and it’s a lie.” His closing remarks mentioned a desire to recover soon from health issues and return to work, along with gratitude for those who supported him.

Busfield had reportedly gone missing but learned of the charges on a Friday. He then hired a lawyer and traveled approximately 3,000 miles to Albuquerque the following day.

Originally from Michigan, Busfield, recognized for portraying Danny Concannon in “The West Wing,” faces two counts of criminal conduct involving a minor, one for each child, as indicated by a warrant issued by New Mexico State Police.

The allegations specify that he is accused of inappropriately touching one boy three to four times and the other five to six times, with the purported abuse beginning in 2022 when one of the boys was just seven years old.

Notably, the investigation did not commence until November 2024, prompted by a doctor’s report to the police about the allegations. The abuse reportedly occurred after one child was examined at the University of New Mexico Hospital, as per the complaint.

Documents reveal that lawyers for Warner Bros., the production company behind “Cleaning Women,” informed authorities that an independent preliminary investigation found no evidence corroborating the allegations.
