Greg Norman Praises Trump’s Actions in Venezuela
Renowned golfer Greg Norman spoke highly of President Donald Trump’s strategies concerning Venezuela, particularly the capture of Nicolas Maduro and his wife. During a conversation with Steve Doocy on “Fox & Friends” in Florida, Norman expressed his admiration for how the U.S. addressed the situation in South America.
“He’s true to his word,” Norman commented. “In my experience with several presidents, Trump stands out. He feels like someone genuinely committed to the nation.” He added, “What he did in Venezuela deserves applause. The timing and execution demonstrated America’s strong resolve to safeguard our region.”
On January 3, President Trump revealed that U.S. special forces executed a significant operation in Caracas, resulting in the arrest of Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores. They were subsequently transported to New York, where they faced federal charges related to drug activities, pleading not guilty in a Manhattan court on January 5.
This operation followed months of intensifying pressure on Venezuela, alongside over 20 airstrikes targeting alleged drug traffickers in surrounding waters as part of Trump’s campaign against drug trafficking into the country.
The Trump administration has not acknowledged Maduro as the official leader, consistently labeling him as associated with drug cartel activities. Trump previously suggested in December 2025 that it would be prudent for Maduro to resign.
The administration characterized the operation as a “law enforcement” action. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has distanced the operation from being labeled an “invasion,” asserting it did not require Congressional consent.
