Eagles Consider Familiar Names for Offensive Coordinator Role

The Philadelphia Eagles are exploring several familiar names for their next offensive coordinator. Among the top candidates are former Giants head coach Brian Daboll and former Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel, according to Deanna Russini from The Athletic.

This comes after the Eagles decided to let go of Kevin Pattullo from his coaching duties just one season into his tenure. It looks like the team has already started reaching out to potential replacements.

Even with this change, there’s some indication that the Eagles may still keep Pattullo within their coaching staff. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni expressed his respect for Pattullo, stating he played a crucial role in the team’s recent successes. “I have no doubt that he will continue to be a successful coach,” he said in a statement.

Daboll is eager to return to the NFL after being let go by the Giants in November, where he had spent part of four seasons. He’s actively being considered for offensive coordinator roles across the league, but he might also interview for the head coaching position with the Titans. Should he join the Eagles, it would mean a reunion with former Giants running back Saquon Barkley.

On the other hand, McDaniel, who was dismissed by the Dolphins after a 35-34 record without a playoff win over four seasons, is also seeking head coaching opportunities with teams like the Browns and Titans.

Whomever the Eagles select will be their fifth offensive coordinator in a short span, following Shane Steichen and Kellen Moore’s promotions to head coaching jobs, and the failed attempts with both Pattullo and Brian Johnson.
