Iran Issues Threat Against Trump

Iran has made a chilling threat against President Donald Trump, displaying a sign during a pro-government rally that references a past assassination attempt. This message, aired on Iranian state television, included a bloodied image of Trump from the 2024 incident in Butler, Pennsylvania, where he was shot at during a campaign rally. The sign ominously stated, “This time it will not miss the target.”

According to reports from Agence France Presse (AFP), this marks Tehran’s most explicit threat directed at Trump. The rally’s attendees showcased the sign, emphasizing their discontent with the U.S. and its leaders.

Trump has previously threatened retaliatory strikes against Iran, particularly in response to the government’s violent suppression of demonstrations. Recently, he enacted a 25% tariff on nations engaged in trade with Iran and terminated diplomatic discussions with Iranian officials due to the unrest, which has left many casualties in its wake.

Protests have erupted across all 31 of Iran’s provinces, fueled by economic struggles such as rising inflation and cost of living. In an attempt to hinder protest coordination and reporting, the government has severed internet and phone services for the past six days. Human rights organizations have reported horrific numbers, with one group estimating approximately 12,000 deaths this week alone, including minors since the protests escalated in late December.

On Wednesday, further illustrating the hostility, a member of the Basij volunteer militia was photographed outside the British Embassy in Tehran, holding a similar sign that echoed the message, “The arrow doesn’t always miss!”

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf issued a stark warning, stating that U.S. military forces and Israel would be seen as “legitimate targets” if an attack is launched against Iran. His remarks were met with shouts of “Death to America” from parliamentarians, underscoring the intense emotions surrounding this ongoing conflict.
