Emotional Appeal from Sister of Missing Former Giants Player
The sister of Sam Beal, a former cornerback for the Giants, has made a heartfelt plea for information regarding her brother, who has been missing since July.
Beal, selected by the Giants in the 2018 supplemental draft, vanished without a clear explanation. This week, his sister, Essence Zain, reached out to the public via Facebook, asking anyone who might have information to come forward. In an emotional interview, she expressed her feelings directly to Beal, saying, “I love you and I would do anything for a hug from you. Your babies miss you. They act just like you do. I’m sorry if you ever felt like I didn’t check in on you enough, but I always did.”
Essence painted a vivid picture of her brother, describing him as a wonderful father and a role model for his son. Beal was last seen on July 12 when he dropped his girlfriend off at work in Michigan. After that, he disappeared, prompting concern from family members. It wasn’t until days later that they discovered he had traveled to Virginia Beach without informing anyone.
Initially, the family thought Beal might simply want some time alone, as he had been known to do that. “We just thought he wanted to be left alone,” Zain noted. However, they later filed a missing person report with Kentwood police in August, though he wasn’t officially added to the national missing persons database until October.
The family expressed frustration regarding the investigation, mentioning that they hadn’t heard from Virginia Beach police despite assurances of communication. “I didn’t think they were trying, I didn’t think they were worried,” Zain remarked about the response from law enforcement.
Authorities, when contacted, provided little new information—the Kentwood Police Department stated they had nothing updated, while the Virginia Beach Police Department acknowledged the situation and confirmed they were assisting the Kentwood team in their investigation.
Additionally, a spokesperson from the NFL Players Association commented on the situation but had no further details. The NFL did not respond to inquiries related to Beal’s case.
Beal, who played college football at Western Michigan University, was part of the Giants organization from 2018 to 2021, leaving behind not just a career but family and friends who are deeply concerned for his well-being.
