Kenny Chesney Embraces Unique Health Practices
Kenny Chesney recently shared his experience with saunas, mentioning that his personal sauna and intermittent use of an infrared sauna have brought “magical” benefits for his body.
The country music star explained his regimen, saying, “Cold swoop, heat and ice. I do a lot of IV work. I also do plasma exchange.” He discussed this during a conversation on Rob Lowe’s podcast, “Literally!”
Chesney described plasmapheresis as “really intense, but it feels great.” In a light-hearted moment, Lowe suggested that Chesney could market plasmapheresis products, jokingly saying, “Hi, I’m Kenny Chesney, buy your own bag.”
Chesney laughed and agreed, “That’s really great for you.” According to the Cleveland Clinic, plasmapheresis involves extracting blood, removing the plasma, and replacing it with a different fluid—usually donor plasma or a protein solution. This process can be beneficial for blood cancers, disorders, and after organ transplants.
In 2015, while on tour, Chesney collaborated with the Love Hope Strength Foundation’s Get on the List campaign. He set up stations at concerts where fans could provide cheek swabs to see if they matched as bone marrow donors.
Reflecting on this initiative, he said, “When tour promoter Kate McMahon explained it to me, I thought it was not only very simple, but this is what No Shoes Nation is all about—giving back and making a difference. I can’t believe they found 25 matches; I couldn’t be prouder of our fans for coming out to support.”
Later, in 2016, Chesney opened up about his health habits in his late 40s. He adopted new practices like using a manual treadmill and cutting out beer while traveling. “Once I decide to do it, I do it. I have that mindset,” he shared, explaining how he can enjoy activities without the need for beer. “I can have fun while on vacation and then just choose to stop.”
Overall, Chesney’s commitment to health and wellness seems both personal and reflective of his broader values—about living fully and helping others along the way.
