Federal authorities reported on Wednesday evening that a member of the Latin Kings gang was taken into custody for allegedly stealing government property from an FBI vehicle damaged amid unrest in Minneapolis.
Raul Gutierrez, 33, was arrested on Thursday as part of a joint effort by the Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
The FBI noted that several government vehicles were vandalized and broken into while agents were responding to reports of assaults on federal employees in the area, mentioning that federal property was indeed taken from within those vehicles.
“Last night, an individual suspected of stealing federal property from an FBI vehicle was arrested in Minneapolis,” said FBI Director Kash Patel via X. He highlighted Gutierrez’s membership in the Latin Kings gang and noted his violent criminal background. “FBI personnel are still investigating other individuals involved. More arrests may follow.”
Patel emphasized, “Those who confront law enforcement or damage federal property funded by hardworking taxpayers will be apprehended.” Meanwhile, Attorney General Pam Bondi stated that the suspect is also believed to have stolen FBI body armor and weapons, further stressing Gutierrez’s history of violent offenses.
Bondi remarked, “This criminal exemplifies the challenges our dedicated federal law enforcement officers face daily, especially when state leadership appears to encourage unlawful actions.”
On “The Ingraham Angle,” White House Border Czar Tom Homan mentioned that the individual who took the firearm from the FBI “is currently in handcuffed custody,” hinting at the possibility of additional arrests as tensions persist between protestors and federal law enforcement in Minneapolis. “Others are coming,” he stated confidently. “They will be held accountable.”
Protests in Minneapolis erupted on Wednesday in response to an ICE operation. This followed an incident where ICE agents reportedly shot an undocumented Venezuelan immigrant who allegedly attacked them with a shovel.
