Gotham FC’s 2026 Season Schedule Unveiled

The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) shared the schedule for Gotham FC’s title defense on Thursday.

The current NWSL champions will kick off the 2026 season on March 15, taking on the newly established Boston Legacy FC at Gillette Stadium. This match will be broadcasted on ABC and marks the beginning of Gotham’s 21 games that will be aired nationally.

If successful, Gotham could become the third franchise in NWSL history to clinch back-to-back championships, following the footsteps of North Carolina in 2018 and 2019, and Kansas City in 2014 and 2015. However, they seem to face a particularly challenging regular season ahead.

This season, NWSL teams are set to compete in a record-high 30 matches—15 at home and 15 away—up from 26 last season.

Additionally, as reigning champions, Gotham is slated to compete for the in-season Challenge Cup against the Kansas City Current, last season’s top team, on June 26 in Columbus, Ohio.

Gotham’s first home match of the season will occur on March 21 when they host the North Carolina Courage. This game will kick off a three-match homestand, followed by matches against Denver Summit FC on March 25 and Orlando Pride on March 29. The latter match is particularly noteworthy as it will be a rematch of the 2025 semifinals.

For fans eagerly anticipating a rematch with the Washington Spirit, they’ll need to wait until July 15, as Gotham won’t host them until then. This match falls during the NWSL’s Rivalry Week, with the two teams scheduled to meet again in Washington on October 17.

The team will also have a lengthy three-match road trip during the season.

Gotham is set to wrap up its regular season at home against the Utah Royals on November 1, coinciding with League Decision Day.

June could be a quieter month for NWSL teams, as there will be required league breaks, particularly with the men’s World Cup being co-hosted in the U.S.

Before the NWSL season kicks off, Gotham will participate in the inaugural FIFA Women’s Champions Cup. They will face Brazil’s Corinthians in the semifinals on January 28 in London, and if victorious, will then compete against Arsenal at Wembley Stadium on February 1.
