Farrah Abraham from 'Teen Mom' reveals she is running for mayor of Austin in the incorrect election year.

Farrah Abraham’s Mayoral Aspirations in Austin

Farrah Abraham, known from “Teen Mom,” is making headlines by announcing her intention to run for mayor in Austin, Texas. This bold political move has generated a lot of buzz on social media.

However, after reaching out to TMZ during a live interview, it became clear that her timeline might be a bit off. The campaign organizers were caught off guard, pointing out that the next election isn’t until 2028. “Why so early?” they questioned.

Abraham initially seemed confident but quickly realized her mistake. “For some reason, the mayoral election is in 2026…” she stated, clearly confused. When informed live that the election would actually be in 2028, she appeared startled, struggling to grasp the differences between city and federal election cycles.

Despite this, Abraham embraced the unexpected twist with a smile, saying, “I’m glad I jumped the gun.” Meanwhile, Austin’s current mayor, Kirk Watson, will be up for re-election in 2024, with the next mayoral election not set until 2028.

Even though her planning seems a bit hasty, Abraham has made strides in her candidacy. She has launched a campaign website and is already asking for political donations ahead of the race.

Interestingly, she also referenced fellow reality star Spencer Pratt, who is running for mayor of Los Angeles in 2026, which might have contributed to her timing mix-up.

A representative shared that Abraham’s motivation for running stems from concerns about the city. “We are out of balance. Crime is up, prices are high, and families are struggling to get by,” she stated, addressing her commitment to be a voice for everyday parents.

In outlining her campaign platform, Abraham shared six key points focused on various issues affecting the community, such as family planning and safety. “We need to ensure everyone has access to resources that build a bright future,” she mentioned.

Abraham rose to prominence in 2009 with her appearance on MTV’s “16 and Pregnant,” a poignant story that saw her become a household name. Following her time on “Teen Mom,” she departed the series in 2018 but remains a notable figure.
