Dedicating a Road to Trump

On January 16, 2026, President Donald Trump participated in a ceremony to rename a four-mile section of Southern Boulevard, which connects Palm Beach International Airport and his Mar-a-Lago estate. This portion is now officially called “President Donald J. Trump Boulevard.”

The event took place in the White & Gold Ballroom at Mar-a-Lago, located in Palm Beach, Florida. After receiving approval from state legislators and local officials throughout 2025, the honorary name was granted to the roadway.

During the ceremony, Trump expressed that he felt “tremendously honored” by the renaming, highlighting the road’s significance. Ceremonial signs indicating this new title were also revealed.

“I’m tremendously honored that the main boulevard from Palm Beach International Airport to the beautiful Mar-a-Lago is being renamed in my honor,” Trump noted. He indicated that the ceremony lasted around 30 to 45 minutes and remarked, “I’ll remember this amazing gesture for the rest of my life.”

State Rep. Meg Weinberger, a Republican from Palm Beach Gardens, played a significant role in pushing for this change through House Bill 987. At the event, Trump praised her, nicknaming her “MAGA Meg.” Weinberger mentioned that her husband inspired her to pursue this idea following the 2024 election.

Trump commented on Weinberger, saying, “She’s got a good future.”

Weinberger also shared her reasons for supporting Trump, stating he represented “common sense when common sense was completely under attack.” Quoting Romans 13:7, she said, “Give honor and respect to all those whom it is due,” suggesting this applied to Trump.

She added, “President Donald J. Trump Boulevard now stands as a permanent reminder for courage, leadership, and unapologetic patriotism.”

This isn’t the first instance of institutions being named for Trump; recently, the U.S. Institute of Peace and the John F. Kennedy Center added his name to their titles. Additionally, there’s been talk in Congress about renaming Dulles International Airport in Virginia to the Donald J. Trump Airport.

Discussing the newly renamed boulevard, Trump remarked, “When people see that the beautiful sign is all lit up nice at night, and it says Donald J. Trump Boulevard, they’ll be filled with pride. Just pride, not in me — pride in our country, pride in this state. Because our nation will be stronger, richer and more successful.”
