In a recent talk, Jennifer Garner shed light on her ex-husband Ben Affleck’s fondness for Beyoncé’s music, sharing some candid thoughts.
While speaking at Diesel A Bookstore on Thursday, she asked, “Do you guys do this? Listen to songs over and over again?”
She added, “Let me just say, I survived this. I lived it.”
The 53-year-old actress reminisced about how she supported Affleck back in 2009 when he was working on “The Town.”
“He kept playing ‘Halo’ by Beyoncé,” she recalled. “I had a 3-month-old and a 3-year-old in a rented place in Cambridge, Massachusetts, while he was filming,” she continued, mentioning that she was busy breastfeeding at the time.
Affleck took on multiple roles in the 2010 crime thriller as director, co-writer, and star. The film debuted at the Venice Film Festival, received critical acclaim, and even garnered awards and nominations, including a nod for Best Picture from the Producers Guild of America.
At the same event, Laura Dave, the author of “The Last Thing He Told Me,” expressed her understanding. “I think it’s amusing because he’s the only other person I know who does that, apart from Ben,” she joked, confessing to having the same habit herself.
Garner and Affleck, who married in 2005 and separated in 2015, share three kids: Violet, 20, Seraphina, 17, and Samuel, 13. Even after Affleck married Jennifer Lopez from 2022 to 2025, both maintained a supportive co-parenting approach.
In November, Affleck spent Thanksgiving with their children in Brentwood, California, and the following month, both Garner and Seraphina were seen enjoying a day out with Lopez and Samuel, including a movie and some shopping.
A source mentioned that despite their separation, Affleck feels a sense of comfort with Garner. Recently, she opened up about the toughest parts of their divorce, which was finalized in 2018.
Garner reflected that “the actual separation of my family” was particularly challenging. She noted, “The loss of a true partnership and friendship was tough.” Nevertheless, she expressed that time has helped ease their relationship, noting that it provides “an opportunity for healing,” as well as a chance to forgive and find new ways to foster friendship.
