1,500 Troops Could Soon Be Sent to Minnesota Under Democratic Leadership

U.S. Troops May Be Deployed to Minnesota Amid Protests

Up to 1,500 U.S. troops could soon be heading to Minnesota, where protests against immigration operations are intensifying. Tensions are also rising due to a fraud scandal involving the state’s Somali community.

A senior official mentioned that the Trump administration is gearing up for this deployment, specifically the 11th Airborne Division stationed in Alaska, known for its expertise in cold weather and mountainous terrain. The unit has been instructed to prepare for possible action.

According to reports, the protests have been sparked by the killing of Renee Goode, a woman shot by an ICE officer in Minneapolis. She allegedly attempted to use her vehicle to obstruct the work of ICE agents.

Left-wing demonstrators have been amplifying their dissent, particularly in light of criticisms surrounding the leadership of ICE, which is facing accusations of widespread corruption.

Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell stated, “The Department of the Army stands ready to carry out the commander in chief’s orders whenever requested.”

President Trump has hinted at invoking the Insurrection Act if the situation continues to escalate, claiming he might have to take drastic measures to protect ICE agents from what he describes as attacks from “professional agitators.” In a social media post, he expressed concern about Minnesota’s political climate, suggesting that immediate action might be necessary to restore order.

Reports indicate that Republican lawmakers are urging Trump to consider such actions, even suggesting that Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, a Democrat, should be arrested for his remarks about deploying the National Guard against immigration enforcement.

Additionally, Trump’s administration has dispatched more personnel to Minneapolis as part of a federal investigation into alleged fraud linked to the Democratic Party. Interestingly, while Trump expressed the possibility of invoking the Insurrection Act, he noted he doesn’t see it as necessary at this moment. Still, it’s worth mentioning that the preparation order for the 11th Airborne Division was given before his recent comments.
