DiNucci Joins Broncos Practice Squad After Nix’s Injury
Life can change pretty fast, right? Just ask Ben DiNucci—he made headlines regarding the Broncos’ quarterback situation on Saturday and found himself on the team the very next day.
DiNucci was signed to the Broncos’ practice squad following the unfortunate season-ending injury to ESPN’s Bo Nix, as reported on Sunday. It seems he himself confirmed this news on social media.
“It has come to my attention that the team may need my services…” he posted. “I’m glad I have a free schedule this week. Interested in heading to Broncos country… to catch the Super Bowl?”
At 29, DiNucci has had quite the journey in the NFL, bouncing around various teams since being drafted by the Cowboys in the seventh round of the 2020 draft.
Throughout his career, he’s played for the Broncos, Bills, Saints, Falcons, and even spent time with the Seattle Sea Dragons in the XFL. He also took on a role as an analyst for CBS Sports Headquarters.
With the Broncos, it appears they’ll be utilizing DiNucci as their third-string quarterback, behind Jarrett Stidham and Sam Ehlinger, both of whom have recently stepped into starting positions.
As a starter in the NFL, DiNucci carries a record of 0-1, having completed 53.5% of his passes for 219 yards without any touchdowns or interceptions.
While with the Sea Dragons in 2023, he notably threw for 2,671 yards and 20 touchdowns—both impressive stats that led the XFL.
Interestingly, DiNucci had some remarks about a controversial pass interference call that helped the Broncos secure a win and advance to the AFC title game. He criticized the call in a now-deleted tweet, stating, “Neither one of them is even close to being a PI. You can’t call them at that point in the game. You can’t reward bad balls like that.”
Now, it looks like DiNucci is back with the Broncos once again.
