Minneapolis police dismiss Nick Sortor's claims of being robbed and dragged by car after he says attackers took his camera.

Recent Events Surrounding Nick Souter in Minneapolis

In the last few weeks, independent conservative journalist Nick Souter has highlighted the actions of anti-ICE protesters and fraudsters in Minneapolis. His reports, which have even led to an arrest recently, seem to have made him a target for extremists.

On Sunday, Souter shared a video captured by fellow journalist Cam Higbee, showing extremists obstructing him. One group even stole his camera and dragged him onto the sidewalk. “A gang of Somali thugs just robbed me of my $1,000 camera in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood of Minneapolis,” he wrote in a post on X. “Then they dragged me into the street because my hand got stuck in the door handle.”

In the footage, a woman dressed in black approached Souter’s vehicle, reached through the open window, snatched his camera, and drove away.

During the incident, Souter explained to Blaze News that a woman had approached his car, snatched the camera, and broke the wrist strap before he got out to chase her. However, a crowd blocked his path, buying time for the thieves to get away. “When I tried to retrieve it, a Somali mob blocked them, giving the thieves time to escape,” he mentioned, emphasizing how the chaos unfolded.

While attempting to catch the thief, he was intercepted by several shouting onlookers and nearly tackled by a masked assailant. At one point, Souter’s hand got caught in the door of the escaping vehicle, dragging him along the street for some time before the suspects vanished.

Afterward, a visibly shaken Souter reported to his colleagues, “They just stole my camera.” Surrounding journalists faced hostility from masked individuals who demanded they leave the area. One woman even admitted to following Souter to the scene.

As the situation unfolded, a Minneapolis police officer advised journalists to vacate, warning that Souter was being accused of harassment. “There’s no need for incidents like this to happen repeatedly,” the officer noted. “This level of hostility is clearly not going to go away.”

When comparing his experiences with radicals and police in Minnesota to those in Portland, Souter had some criticisms. “Just like the Portland police, the Minneapolis police have been subservient to the mob and completely emasculated by the left-wing government here. But at least the Minneapolis police haven’t falsely arrested me…yet,” he said.

Souter was previously arrested in Portland on October 2 during an anti-ICE protest, but no charges were filed after investigation. He has hinted at legal action against the city over the incident, having alleged his civil rights were violated.

Authorities have stated that the car used in the incident was registered to a person at an address linked to an autism center in Spring Lake Park, Minnesota. Blaze News attempted to reach the center for comment but was unsuccessful.

After the chaos, Higbee pointed out that it may have been the owner of that vehicle who was involved, suggesting the robber could have commandeered someone else’s car to flee the scene.
