Arch Manning’s Decision to Stay in School
Before the college football season kicked off, Arch Manning was a hot topic, even considered a likely No. 1 pick for the upcoming draft—despite only starting three games. However, as the season unfolded, the excitement faded. Manning and the Texas Longhorns faced challenges and ultimately couldn’t secure a spot in the College Football Playoff.
After the season, Manning made it clear that he plans to stay in school. His father, Cooper, revealed that this decision was reached some time ago. When asked if Arch “always stays in school,” Cooper confidently replied, “Yes.”
Cooper reminisced about his own college days, saying, “I grew up hearing my parents talk about how great college was. It’s such a fun and special time in your life.” He noted that both of his brothers spent significant time in college—Eli for five years and Peyton for four. To him, rushing through the college experience seems, well, a bit unwise.
“Savor every moment of your college career,” he continued. Cooper emphasized how fortunate Arch is to attend the University of Texas and experience life in Austin, a place brimming with football culture and camaraderie.
Looking ahead, Manning is expected to enter the draft in 2027 and likely find himself among the top picks, similar to his uncles. But there’s always that reminder of Eli’s story—refusing to play for the San Diego Chargers when they drafted him number one. They eventually sent him to the New York Giants instead. Could Arch consider a similar path? Cooper wasn’t sure.
“I don’t know,” he admitted.
For now, Arch seems focused on the present—preparing for spring football, celebrating the recent victory over Michigan, engaging with new teammates, and frankly, just enjoying the college experience.
