David Wright Celebrates Carlos Beltran’s Hall of Fame Induction

David Wright was among the first former Mets players to extend his congratulations to Carlos Beltran on his induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame. In a video shared by SNY, Wright offered “huge congratulations” to Beltran.

Wright reflected on the significant influence Beltran had on his career, saying, “To the leaders who taught me how professionals prepare and how to work, I will never forget you. That was a huge building block, whether you knew it or not. Well deserved. A true five-tool player and a true star of the game. I’m proud to call you a teammate and I couldn’t be more excited about this induction.” His words added a personal touch, emphasizing camaraderie and appreciation.

Wright wasn’t alone in celebrating; current Mets star Francisco Lindor also shared his thoughts on Beltran’s achievement. “I want to congratulate Carlos, Jessica, and his family on their incredible accomplishment of being inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame,” Lindor stated. “Growing up in Puerto Rico, Carlos was a vital role model for many of us. Personally knowing him revealed what a great father, leader, and role model he truly was. He paved the way for future generations of Puerto Rican baseball players and is genuinely deserving of this moment.”

Wright and Beltran were teammates from 2005 until 2011, when Beltran was traded to the Giants. Their standout season together was in 2006, during which the Mets reached the National League Championship Series but ultimately fell to the Cardinals in a seven-game nail-biter at Shea Stadium.

During his time as a Mets player, Beltran hit .280, tallied 149 home runs, and accumulated 559 RBIs over seven seasons. In a touching moment, the Mets shared a video on X showing Beltran receiving the news from the Baseball Writers Association of America about his Hall of Fame election—he was visibly emotional as friends and family celebrated alongside him.

This year, Beltran secured 84.2 percent of the vote in his fourth round, surpassing the 75 percent threshold required for Cooperstown. He has expressed a desire to wear a Mets cap when he is inducted.

Owner Steve Cohen and his wife, Alex, were among those recognizing this significant milestone. They issued a statement saying, “On behalf of the entire organization, we are thrilled to congratulate Carlos on receiving baseball’s highest honor. One of the most dynamic players to wear a Mets uniform, Carlos combined rare power and speed with elite defense, setting a standard of excellence that continues today. Beyond his on-field success, his leadership and presence shape our organization.” This is truly a proud moment for Beltran, his family, and Mets fans everywhere.

Throughout his 20-year career, Beltran earned nine All-Star selections, won three Gold Glove Awards, and received two Silver Slugger Awards, hitting a total of 435 home runs—ranking fourth among switch-hitters in major league history.

In addition to the Mets, Beltran’s career included stints with the Yankees, Astros, Cardinals, Royals, Rangers, and Giants. Fellow center fielder Andruw Jones will also join him in the 2026 Hall of Fame class, marking them as the third and fourth leading center fielders inducted since 1981.
